The Canoe center is situated by the canal in the middle of Skebokvarn.
In the old dairy, built 1923, is Mikael Berger (World Champion in Kajak 1985) and his wife Carina Berger running the Canoe center (Kanotcenter), a Hostel (Gamla Mejeriet), a Café and Kanuk of Sweden AB that is producing and selling kayaks, canoes and accessories.

Båven

Directly by the Canoe center you have the beutiful lake Båven. It is the biggest lake in Södermanland. The lake is known for it´s many winding fjords, narrow straits and many islands (365!!!). The lake is 68 square km and have a shore line of 500 km!

Båven is called "the most southern wilderness lake of Sweden", and it´s easy to understand why. You will spot some beutiful castles and cottages, but mostly you will see cattle fields, oak fields and forests. The area has a rich animal and birdlife. In the forest around the lake there is plenty of Moose (Elk), Fallow-deer, and Roe-deer. Around the lake is Black-throated diver, Heron, and Eagleowl nesting. We also have one of Europes biggest population of Osprey.

The lake is normally about 10 meters deep, but is 50 meters at the deepest place. The water quality is really good, and parts of the community is pumping the drinking water from the lake. There is lot of fish in the lake, such as Pike-perch, Pike, Perch and the protected Catfish. The biggest catfish thats been catched in Sweden was in Båven 1871. It was 3,6 meter loong and the weight was 180 kg.

Between April 1:th until July 31:th there is lot´s of areas that are birdprotected. That means that you can´t get closer than 100 m of these areas. You will get the information about theese areas at the Canoe center.

The only village located directly at the Båven shore is Sparreholm. Around the lake there is a number of castles and mansions, such as Sparreholm Castle, Vidbyholm Castle, Rockelstad Castle, Skedevi and more.

Båven is with it´s 68 square kilometers of water and many islands, one of Sörmlands most known paddling lakes. Båven is part of a lake system with more than 500 km of canoe trails and thrue the system you can get as far as Katrineholm or Nyköping. The possibilities are almost endless, perfect for short day trips or longer expeditions with camping nights. To get to Båven you paddle thrue the narrow Kvarnsjön.

GAMLA MEJERIET (The Old Dairy)

There has been a Canoe center in the old dairy since 1976 when Anders Hansson started Friluftcenter. He also opend a Café after a few years.

In 2008 part of the house was rebuilt as a Hostel by the owner Kenneth Broberg.

The summer 2010, Mikael and Carina Berger bought the house and the Hostel.
Since 2011 they also run the Café and the Canoe center.
